At Sonru, as online video interviewing innovators, we're often asked to comment on Video CVs or Video Resumes (as they're known in the USA) and our predictions or forecasts about the future of the Video CV. Video CVs  have been around for a long time now but have yet to take off and probably won't as they don't offer much added value over the normal CV. Let's go through this in more detail.

Oh no, they've made a snazzy online video with contributions from their staff talking about Facebook's vision for the future. The Augmented Reality CV is the brainchild of CWJobs and David Wood, the co-founder of Symbian. An Augmented Reality CV attempts to bring a traditional CV to life by using audio and visual technology and they're hoping it will be the CV of the future.

Good news, AOL is hiring! They announced a further 20 new software engineering jobs at its Dublin Development Centre with immediate effect. The 20 new jobs are in addition to the 50 software engineering jobs they announced in June of this year. The majority of the new jobs are with their Media Technology division and will focus on developing AOL’s global media channels which includes over 80 individual brands.

Came across a discussion on using skype for interviews on the Irish HR LinkedIn group yesterday. Overall Skype got the thumbs up but I couldn't help noticing that comments fell into 2 categories: a) online video enables you to physically see the interviewee and b) plug-ins, tweaks and customer service issues to make Skype more powerful/customised to actual requirements.
