Google receives 75,000 job applications in one week

Last week, Google announced they had received 75,000 applications for their current hiring spree of 6,000 new jobs worldwide. According to a blog post written by Alan Eustace, senior vice president of engineering and research at Google, they're "looking for top talent, we’ll hire as many smart, creative people as we can to tackle some of the toughest challenges in computer science: like building a Web-based operating system from scratch, instantly searching an index of more than 100 million gigabytes and even developing cars that drive themselves".

The inundation of applications topped a previous high set in May 2007 by 15 percent. 75,000 applications is quite a validation to Google's employer brand if not a headache for the recruitment/HR team to provide every applicant with a fair chance. Maybe using an automated onliine video interview solution like Sonru, which provides for a fair, structured and standardised means of screening candidates will lessen the workload and facilitate the remote screening of candidates worldwide.

So if you're looking to join one of the most exciting Internet companies in the world, across the world, well browse the vacancies near you.
