Grapevine Feature with CERN’s Head of Recruitment, Programmes and Monitoring James Purvis
Sonru client CERN, one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research, were featured in an article in this month's issue of The Grapevine magazine. James Purvis, CERN's Head of Recruitment, Programmes and Monitoring gave a compelling interview about their innovative recruitment practices.
We have an HR boss that wants to transform and modernise and a director general who is charismatic and enthusiastic.
James Purvis, Head of Recruitment, Programmes and Monitoring, CERN
James spoke about the challenges in filling engineering and other vacancies as needless to say given CERN's high profile internationally, it has no trouble recruiting physicists (which account for only 3% of personnel). However, through creative advertising [having recently won the top prize in two categories of the UK’s Recruitment Advertising Awards for 2011: recruitment literature and print advertisement (commercial)]. extensive use of social media (LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter etc.), an innovative HR department and a hugely supportive management team, CERN's future is still looking bright. You can read the article here.
Although James didn't allude to CERN's usage of Sonru's automated video interviewing solution in the article, feel free to read the press release and case study yourself.
