We came across two excellent resources to help you prepare and look your absolute best when speaking to a webcam. The first is a video from L.A.-based photographer/director Matthew Rolston in which he shares tips on how to sit, position the camera, and light our face for maximum attractiveness. The second find was a blog post witten by Amanda Wills, Associate Editor, Partner Content @Mashable.

Here is a guest blog Joy Redmond, Sonru’s Head of Research, wrote for webrecruit a few weeks ago. It provides candidates with the insider view of what the interviewer is really looking at in video interviews based on findings from more than twenty in-depth interviews and an online survey of 100+ Sonru users from over 40 client companies.

Make a good first impression and complete the interview by the closing date to demonstrate that you can complete tasks competently and are capable of working to certain deadlines. Completing the video interview on time shows your interest in the role, for example a candidate that has to ask the interviewer to extend the closing date does not leave a good impression. So if you really want the job, pass this first test and you're already in with a better chance. Read on for some more tips and advice.
